Welcome to our website!
Riverside Equestrian Centre and Queensland’s horse owners and horses are returning to “normal” after the trauma of equine flu. There have been no new outbreaks since Christmas and the horse “lock down” has been lifted. This means that horses can again travel, subject to some restrictions, can be ridden along the roads and horse events are being held again. We are all hoping that Australia will return to its former status of being EI free.
The Competition Season kicks off
The competition season has got off to a great start. Jayden Brown has won the first CDI-Y of the year which was held in Melbourne this week. He won the class by a 5% margin which is amazing. Apparently it was raining so hard in Jayden's test that the black dye started to run out of his top hat!
On the local front Mandy Finnimore had her first show in 2 years and came away with a 2nd place in the official prelim class riding Diamontina (Cally). Jessica Cham and her lovely young horse were fourth in the Young horse four year old class and won their first unofficial elementary class.
“Well done" to all!
Horses Being Partially Leased
A number of our school horses have been partially leased to some of our more advanced riders. Fox to Robyn Maclean, Matrix to Jade Curry, Merlin to Ami Franzen and Charlie to Ali Withers. These horses will still be available to be ridden by other riders in lessons and helper rides but those leasing the horse have first preference on their lesson days. Lessees can also ride their leased horse at other times without our supervision, we ask that an adult be present to watch junior riders when riding away from the main arena.
We have to mention Megan and her new horse, “Wilbur” who Megan is leasing from Adrienne Simmons. Wilbur is a beautiful 3year old warmblood with a huge future. Good luck to Megan.
Louise Harris has just bought Megan's horse Inky. Inky and Louise plan to base themselves at Riverside for a while until they get to know each other. Congratulations Louise.
Kelly Dykman has bought Nudge, the handsome bay warmblood whom Claire was leasing from Caro, and he will be staying at Riverside. Kelly is a new face at Riverside and she will be having lessons with Claire. Welcome to Riverside Kelly.
We hope you all have loads of fun with your new horses!
